Los Ayala

     Locals say with pride that Los Ayala is one of the most beautiful swimming beaches on Pacific Mexico’s coast. The one kilometer long beach of Los Ayala is a palm fringed cove with a gradually sloping shoreline and crystal clear waters. Just around the corner a couple of smaller but delightful swimming beaches await you.

     Dine barefoot in the sand under the shade of a palapa at one of the many Palapa restaurants on "Playa Los Ayala" serving delicious blackened fish and prawns cooked in a hundred fashions. Popular beachfront choices include Pikkikos, Restaurant Las Ranas and Las Corales. Check out Restaurant Charly's  for delicious, authentic
Mexican cuisine and  Vista Guayabitos for the best view and best margaritas in all of Jaltemba Bay.

       In town, a variety of shops, grocery stores and services meet most tourists needs. The Town Plaza, is the place to be to take in cultural events and town celebrations, including many colourful and lively Mexican Fiestas. After the show head to Los Ayala's only disco "Green Please" for dancing and entertainment.

     Los Ayala is off the beaten path; and, worlds away from the more heavily touristed beaches.
Rincon de Guayabitos

     Rincon de Guayabitos, translates to "Corner of Little Guavas." This spectacular beach offers shallow, safe swimming waters, and three miles of soft, fine, velvety sand to walk along.  The north end of Guayabitos beach is a popular spot for body boarding. The central and southern portions of the beach are lined with restaurants and hotels, and the perfect locale to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, or simply to sit back relax, and watch the world go by. Popular beach front restaurants include Juan's Place, Mateja's, and Latitude 21.

    The main avenue in Guayabitos is lined with shops selling souvenirs, silver and turquoise jewelery, beach and resort ware. From December through March, the artisans market in the Town Square is a great place to shop!    Guayabitos also offers an abundance of wonderful restaurants, specializing in seafood and Mexican cuisine.  Highly recommended restaurants include Pina Loca, Pina Colada and El Campanario. For more casual fare try one of the many very popular taco stands; or check out the best shrimp burritos and hamburgers in Guayabitos served at Hamburger Luis! 

     Rincon de Guayabitos also offers quite a lively night life. Many of the local restaurants feature entertainment on a regular basis and there are two discotheques in town. During the evening hours the main street "Avenue Sol"  bustles with people, shopping, dining, and simply having a great time!

   

     La Penita de Jaltemba an enchanting Mexican beach town that offers one the opportunity to explore and fall in love with authentic Mexico.  La Penita is the the heart of Jaltemba Bay, and simply where on goes for some serious shopping and to take care of business in Jaltemba Bay. The post office, bank and ATMs, money exchange shops, larger paint  and hardware stores, appliance and home ware stores, and utility offices are all located in La Penita.

     However, the best reason to visit La Penita is to visit the "Tianguis",  La Penita's famous Thursday Morning Market, which takes place in and about the Town Square and simply for the experience of shopping at Hamaca Maya! Another great reason to visit La Penita is to for fine dining. Try Soleys for its romantic ambiance and fine Italian cuisine, , Xaltemba Restaurant & Galeria, for superb dining and entertainment, and Hinde & Jaime's for their famous shrimp tacos!

Charming La Colonia
     La Colonia is authentic, small town rural Mexico and walking about town, exploring the side streets, and assortment of eclectic shops is a unique and fun experience. To get there drive north on highway 200 for five minutes, or better yet hop on the collectivo in La Penita and share a ride with the locals to La Colonia...

     The best reason to visit La Colonia is for the opportunity to explore and walk the miles long beachs of Bahia de Naranja. Midway down this beach is a sea turtle sanctuary. The perfect beach to enjoy peace and solitude.

     La Colonia is located at the north end of this gorgeous Jaltemba Bay, and truly the perfect day trip for beach aficionados!
