Magical
The entrance to the beach in La Penita is marked by twin seahorses and a beautiful view of Isla Islote which is also referred to as Isla Pena and Coral island.

The beach is frequented by amiable brown pelicans, fishermen, tourists and locals; and because the beach is not very populated, a day at the beach in La Penita is truly restful.  A walk along the beach in a southerly direction will yield a treasure trove of beautiful rocks and seashells.

During the winter season, when the waves are just right, the local children can be seen practicing their surfing skills at the south end of the beach. In November it is not uncommon to see schools of fish leaping out of the ocean waters, often times beside swimmers.

La Penita beach is a great place for a refreshing dip, but use caution as the ocean waters become deep just a few meters off shore, so the beach is not recommended for   non-swimmers. On calm days the beach is perfect for a short swim but use caution and avoid swimming when the surf is large, and stick to swimming at either end of the beach where the slope of the shore is more gradual, and the waves are gentler.

La Penita beach is situated between Guayabitos beach and the neighbouring beaches of La Colonia to Boca de Narjana. The beach is an easy ten minute drive from Los Ayala, or about twenty minutes by collectivo. Once in La Penita walk a few blocks down the Main Avenida which leads straight to the beach.

The beach of La Penita de Jaltemba offers crystal clear, warm Pacific waters, a kilometer long stretch of sandy beach and a true sense of discovery.

The beach setting is full of Mexican charm and while the beach is not "Picture Perfect" it has a quirky tropical beauty and just like the town the beach is enchanting and  full of character. The sunsets here are truly spectacular.
