Our Mexican story began when our friends, who spent their winters in La Penita de Jaltemba at an RV Camping Park, persuaded us to experience what they said was "True Mexico". We stayed at the Casa Rey Bungalows in Los Ayala as the hotel in La Penita that they recommended was not available. When we walked out on our terrace and saw the beautiful view, we knew we were in paradise.
Daily walks on the beach, buying the catch of the day from the local fishermen and enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sunset was a wonderful experience that we wanted to share. We invited our three children to join us the following year and made a decision to buy property so we could build a vacation dream house. A local contractor was hired and our Mexican Casa was built.
Although one of us is content with a slower pace of life, the other one needs something of a challenge. So . . . we invested in a beach front condo project in Los Ayala called Villas Marena. Now, while one of us relaxes by the pool, goes for bike rides & beach walks, the other keeps busy with the challenge of doing business in Mexico.
We have become involved with the community through several fundraisers. To contribute to the worthy causes in Los Ayala and the surrounding towns in Jaltemba Bay gives us a rewarding feeling. It is a joy to give back to this special community, who have welcomed us into their circle of life.
Through our work, excursions to the local markets or just having dinner, we have made many friends, with locals and those simply enjoying a vacation. We look forward to seeing all our new friends every winter.
Los Ayala is truly a magical place. The smiling and helpful locals, the excellent food and the warm, sunny climate make life very enjoyable. We feel very fortunate to have found our own "Piece of Paradise".
