Los Ayala
Playa Los Ayala
"Palmadas"
These are "pats on the back" that men exchange during an embrazo or "embrace." They are done with the right hand, which is extended over the left shoulder of the person being embrace.
Playa Los Ayala is the ideal tropical beach; soft gold flecked sand, and beautiful blue-green crystal clear waters framed by lush, jungle clad mountain sides. The kilometer long beach is lined with an abundance of stately tropical palms that dance in the tropical breezes and the sea shore slopes gently allowing for great swimming in waters just 4-5 feet deep , several yards off shore.
Los Ayala beach is the perfect family beach offering something for all ages… Sunday is family day at Los Ayala beach and it is a pleasure to watch children play in the sand and shallow waters, while their parents and grandparents watch, or join in on the fun. Popular beach activities include banana boat rides, kayaking and skim boarding.
Other great activities include renting a panga boat to go whale watching or simply to explore nearby Coral Island and fit in a little snorkeling; and riding Los Ayala's Gran Fiesta to take in the scenery of beautiful Jaltemba Bay from the water and enjoying the experience of the true Mexican party atmosphere – family style.
A day at Los Ayala beach would not be complete without buying a treat from one of the beach vendors. To tempt your palate they serve giant pineapples stuffed with fresh fruit, carved mangoes served on a stick, grilled fish or prawns on a stick; fresh baked donuts, delectable banana or corn muffins; sweet flans and rice pudding, coconut cookies, and the old favourite standby – an ice cream cone.
Consider renting a kayak to explore the waters and hidden beaches around Los Ayala. Although some of the beaches are private, all beaches in Mexico are public up to the high tide line. There is a pretty little beach located between Los Ayala beach and the Military beach that borders Guayabitos beach with beautiful clear green waters. Kayaking is a great way to explore the shoreline as the ocean waters are generally calm in this area. Taking your kayak in a southerly direction will lead you to Playa del Beso (also referred to as Playa Frideras); and Playa Frideritas. The next beach is Playa del Toro, and if you follow the rocky shoreline it eventually leads to Punta Raza. Because of the strong currents and huge surf, kayaking to Playa del Toro and Punta Raza is best left to the experts. One can rent kayaks on Los Ayala beach on weekends in front of the Quintas Minas hotel.
Locals say with pride that Los Ayala offers one of the most beautiful swimming beaches on Pacific Mexico’s coast. It is true!
