Playa Platinitos translates to "Beach of the Bananas," and the beach is just as delightful as its name implies it is. The beach is located in a small cove and the calm clear ocean waters are provide for some pretty good snorkeling. The sandy shore slopes gradually, and the waves are gentle - making it perfect for swimming.
Several restaurants are located on the beach, serving traditional Mexican fare and fresh seafood. The specialty of restaurants here is "Pescado Sarandeado," whole, marinated Bar-B-Que fish; but all of the whole fish entrees are terrific. The local ceviche is very tasty and as are the Micheladas!
To reach Playa Platanitos from Los Ayala, drive north along Highway 200 until you reach Las Varas, and from there follow the sign pointing towards Zacualpan-Platanitos-San Blas. Platanitos is the first beach after Playa Los Tortugas. The drive from Los Ayala takes approximately 75 minutes.
Definitely, worth exploring!
