Registering Your Well...

If you have a "Well" on your private or commercial property in
Los Ayala,
you should know that because well water is derived from federal grounds, you will need to register your "Well" with "Comision National del Agua." The information here is also applicable to wells in other towns of Jaltemba Bay, including La Penita and Rincon de Guayabitos.

Required Paperwork
• Copies of the “Title” of the property
• Copies of the official Identification of the owner, which must include the name of the owner (passport, FM3, etc)
• Copy of CURP (Mexican citizens may obtain this online; if not you will find this on your FM3)
• Copy of proof of address (Electricity and Telephone Bill)

Other Requirements

You will typically asked to fill out several forms and to answer the following questions...

1. How deep is your well?
2. How wide is your well?
3. Have you had any additional work done to your well which varies from the standard well construction?

You will be asked to how you take the water out of your well; and to put this in writing…

1. By hand or pump?
2. If by pump, you will be asked what brand of pump; how much horse power; and the size of the tube that pumps the water out of the well.
3. You will be also be asked how many people on the said property use the well water; how many times you turn the pump on every day, and for how long.

If the property is a rental property you will also be required to provide the following documentation…

1. Llicense of Funcionamiento – provide by the municipality
2. R.F.C. (Register of Hacienda )

If the property is a company…

1. You will need the notarized copy of integration of the company,
2. If your company has a legal representative; this person will be required to register your well for you; or to give a designated person, “A Notarized Power of Attorney” to allow them to complete the paperwork for you.

Fees:
1. 2,750 Pesos for the right to submit the paperwork
2. 3,750 Pesos for requesting the concession.

1. Where does one go to register a well?

The CONAGUA office in Tepic . The office is located on Insurgentes street, across from Soriana Cigarrera, by the bus station.

2. Is the registration fee for a well; a one-time fee or a yearly fee?

The fee is a concession fee and if the concession for the well is granted to you; then you will be charged an annual fee for water services. Private homes are required to pay the concession fee just one time.

3. Why do I need to register my well?

Because in ground water is federal water. Property owners who neglect to register their wells are subject to heavy fines.

2. A "Croquis", that is a hand drawing done by your hand,which includes the names of the side streets surrounding your property.
