"Chula"
A term of affection (and affectation) similar to the way some Southerners and movie stars use the term "darling."

Writers Who Love Mexico

Susan J. Cobb, local published author of "Virgin Territory: How I Found my Inner Guadalupe", has organized a group to support local writers. This support group is based in Jaltemba Bay and heartily welcomes all writers on the Nayarit Coast, from San Blas to Sayulita.
"Writers Who Love Mexico" is a monthly showcase for writers living or visiting the Nayarit Coast. The meetings convene at 11 o’clock on the first Tuesday of each month. This enthusiastic group of writers meets Xaltemba Restaurant and Galeria, in La Penita which is located just off the plaza.
The program usually consists of authors reading from their own published work, or work in progress. The 2011 season will begin with a bang - featuring JD Peterson, a singer and songwriter; and Lucy (Luz) Foster, who will read selections from her novel set in La Penita. Though there are no hard and fast rules, selections that are shared should have some relation to Mexico. Each program is unique, defined by who is participating and who is there to listen, and lasts about an hour and a half. While the program is important, of equal value is the opportunity to network with people who love reading, and aspire to write, as well.
The first meeting for the 2011 season is set for Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Lunch begins around 1:00 p.m.. The cost for lunch is 150 pesos which includes beverage and gratuity. Participants will also receive the opportunity to buy books and CD's autographed by the authors.
